Cybercab's Quiet Boom: 300+ in Austin, Paris Debut, and a Smarter Ride

Tesla says 300+ Cybercabs now serve Austin. Plus the Paris Motor Show debut, Dallas "soon," 11 p.m. hours, Grok @bot, and our new live tracker.

It has only been a couple of weeks since our last update, and the gold two-seaters have not been sitting still. If you have been asking how many Cybercabs are in Austin right now, the answer just got a lot bigger, a Cybercab landed in Paris, Dallas is next in line, and the ride itself got a few upgrades worth knowing about. Here is the full rundown, plus a heads-up on something new we built so you can follow it all in one place.

300+ Cybercabs in Austin: The Number Everyone Was Waiting For

On October 10th, exactly two years after the original We, Robot reveal, Tesla's Robotaxi account posted the milestone: more than 300 Cybercabs are now serving riders in Austin. Tesla called it an 8x jump in about 30 days, which lines up with the roughly 38 cars on the road when the service opened to the public in early September. For scale, the 67th Cybercab only joined the Austin fleet on September 22nd , so the pace over the last three weeks has been wild. The official number also holds up against the paperwork. Texas registration data showed roughly 169 Cybercabs on October 2nd and about 319 by October 8th and 9th. The Model Y robotaxi count has stayed flat near 420, so every new car joining the Austin network is a purpose-built Cybercab. Tesla's head of AI, Ashok Elluswamy, summed it up by saying "The cabs are everywhere in Austin now".

Dallas Is Next ? , & Houston Is Warming Up ?

Right after the fleet post, Elluswamy added two words that lit up the timeline: "Dallas soon." No launch date yet, but the groundwork is already visible. Model Y robotaxis already run unsupervised in Dallas inside a service area centered on Downtown, and locals have been snapping photos of rows of gold Cybercabs staged at the Dallas hub for months. Browse everything the community has logged on our Dallas Cybercab sightings page. Houston looks like the stop after that. Nearly 200 Cybercabs have been spotted parked at Tesla's Houston lot, and a big cluster has also turned up in Miami. Spotting a staged cab is not the same as a live service, which is exactly why we separate the two (more on that below). Want to see where the sightings are piling up? Bonjour, Cybercab: Paris Motor Show Debut

While the fleet grows in Texas, a Cybercab crossed the Atlantic. Tesla is showing the car at the Paris Motor Show (Mondial de l'Auto), October 12th to 18th at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, and it is the first time the Cybercab has been displayed in Europe. You will find it on Stand C25 in Hall 7.1, described as a unit from the operational U.S. robotaxi fleet. The same stand has Optimus Gen 2, the Model 3 and Model Y, and free FSD (Supervised) test rides in six Model 3s. Visitors cannot ride in the Cybercab itself, since no steering wheel and no pedals means it stays parked on the stand, but Europe finally gets a proper in-person look at the car that has already logged public miles in Austin. Tesla has not shared any plans for Cybercab sales or service in Europe, so for now this is a showcase, not a launch. Brushing up before your own visit? Our full Cybercab specs breakdown has the numbers.

The Ride Itself Got Better

The Robotaxi account also rounded up a batch of passenger-facing upgrades. The small, practical stuff is what turns a novelty into something you would actually use: * Longer hours: Austin service now runs 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., up from 10 p.m. Elon Musk said the main thing Tesla is solving for later hours is not hitting pets that are hard to see at night. Full 24/7 is still the goal, with no timeline. * Shorter waits: A bigger fleet plus smarter orchestration that predicts demand and pre-positions cars. Trunk that remembers: If you open the trunk before the ride, it pops open again at your destination so your bag does not ride off without you. * Grok @bot in the cabin: Sign in once, talk to your personal bots for things like ordering your usual drink or handling email, and the session logs out automatically when the ride ends. One rider had their bot order a drink mid-trip and the official account shared the clip. Curious what a ride costs these days? Our Cybercab price tracker & read of what real riders are saying in the community reviews, will be coming SOON once we have more cities and rides to track & ask.

The Other Side: NHTSA Is Asking Questions

Not everything this month is confetti. NHTSA is investigating the Cybercab, and Tesla was granted a 30-day extension, now due October 30th, to answer 21 questions about certification and its plans to scale commercially. It is worth watching because the answers could shape how fast the fleet spreads beyond Texas.

New: The Grid, Our Live Cybercab Tracker

MyCybercab The Grid live Cybercab tracker map showing Austin as live

Between 300+ cabs, a Paris stand, and Dallas on deck, the numbers are moving fast, so we built a home for them. The Grid ( A Work in Progress ) is our new live Cybercab tracker, and it keeps the question "where can I actually ride one?" honest. * Live cities are places with real, paid Cybercab service. Right now that is Austin. * In the wild cities are places where Cybercabs have been spotted but are not carrying riders. * Four honest numbers for Austin: registered cars (Texas DMV), the official fleet count from Tesla, unique cabs spotted by the community, and live sighting events from our own map. When Dallas flips from "soon" to "live," The Grid will show it, and we will keep the city list and cab counts updated as the fleet grows. You can also keep an eye on the live Cybercab count from the stat bar on our homepage. Spot one yourself? Add your sighting and it feeds straight into the map.

Austin is the proof point, Dallas and Houston are warming up, and Paris just got a proper look. The gold wave is still early, but it is moving.
