Yeah. It’s actually happening.Tesla confirmed the Cybercab launch for September 3, 2026 at 1 Tesla Road Gigafactory Texas. Invites went out. RSVPs closed August 30. People are already flying in. Watchers, community folks, sweepstakes winners. The usual suspects. If you’re not in Austin , most of us aren’t Tesla’s livestreaming it. What already went down this week
The paperwork part is done. Texas Senate Bill 2807 kicked in May 2026 and set up a self-certification path for commercial Level 4 robotaxis. No endless state-by-state waiting room. Tesla already ran that play for the Model Y robotaxi fleet. This week they added Cybercab to the same list. 45 Cybercabs are now registered with the Texas DMV for commercial robotaxi service. That number jumped by 38 in one day. The fleet isn’t theoretical anymore. They’re lining them up in real time.Also: weather. Post-launch writeup — what they announced, what it means for the cities on the board, where it goes next. City trackers — if your city’s next, your city page is where the next wave of sightings lands. One more thing — the Semi is in the same movie. This isn’t just about two-seat robotaxis. The stack Tesla is proving right now — fleet ops over Starlink, autonomy at commercial scale, remote monitoring across a bunch of vehicles — is the same stack behind the Tesla SEMI. Every quiet, uneventful Cybercab mile is also a trust-builder for autonomous freight. One carries two people. The other carries 82,000 pounds. Both need the same thing: autonomy that works outside the demo. Thursday is the first public proof point that isn’t a trailer.
