The Footage Is Real Cybercab Is Off the Line
On April 24, 2026, Elon Musk posted a 38-second video to X. It shows a Tesla Cybercab rolling off the Giga Texas factory floor and moving onto public roads under its own power. No staging, no prototype badge just the vehicle, moving. "Cybercab has started production," Musk wrote. Short, simple, and about six years in the making.
Gold Cybercabs in Formation What That Actually Means
In a second post, Musk shared footage of multiple gold-coloured Cybercabs driving in formation. This isn't a parade. Fleet formation driving is how Tesla validates its autonomous systems at scale multiple units responding to the same environment simultaneously. It's also the kind of footage that signals the company is thinking past single-unit testing and into coordinated deployment. Austin's early robotaxi program, which has been running limited rides since mid-2025, is the live test bed for exactly this.
The Q1 Numbers Back It Up
This isn't just a social media moment. Tesla reported $477 million net profit for Q1 2026 stronger than expected and confirmed during earnings that volume production of both the Cybercab and the Tesla Semi remains on track for 2026. Those are two completely different vehicle programs hitting production milestones at the same time. The Cybercab was first unveiled in late 2024 with no steering wheel or pedals. The first unit rolled off the line on February 17, 2026. The April footage confirms the ramp has begun.
What Comes Next for Cybercab
Musk has indicated the Cybercab could be commercially available to the public by 2027. Between now and then: volume ramp at Giga Texas, regulatory clearance in additional cities beyond Austin, and continued FSD validation on production hardware. The community is already tracking Cybercabs appearing in Austin, Palo Alto, and other cities. Check the Live Sightings Map to see the latest — and add your own sighting if you spot one. 🚗⚡
