Drone Footage Catches Tesla's Growing Cybercab Fleet at Giga Texas
Drone footage captured by longtime Giga Texas observer Joe Tegtmeyer on April 13th shows over 50 Tesla Cybercab units staged across the Austin factory campus parked in tight, organized rows in the outbound lot just outside the factory exit. This is the primary staging area where finished vehicles sit before being loaded onto transport carriers or sent out for validation testing. On any given day it holds a mix of Model Y and Cybertruck units. The Cybercab fleet is clearly growing its footprint.
Several Cybercabs Are Clustered Near Tesla's Crash Testing Facility
The more interesting detail in the footage is where some of those units are parked. Several Cybercabs are clustered near Tesla's dedicated on-site Crash Lab the same facility first spotted being used for Cybercab testing back in October 2025. Tesla operates Crash Labs at both Giga Texas and its Fremont facility, purpose-built for controlled structural crash testing. Historically, automakers ramp up intensive crash testing roughly `one to two months before volume production kicks off'. The Cybertruck followed almost exactly that pattern. The Cybercab appears to be on the same timeline.
Tesla Cybercab Production Timeline Where Things Stand Right Now
The first production Cybercab rolled off the Giga Texas line on February 17, 2026. Volume production is now targeted for April. Musk previously wrote on X that the early production rate will be "agonizingly slow, but eventually end up being insanely fast" and separately stated Tesla is targeting at least 2 million Cybercab units per year at full scale. Commercial robotaxi service in Austin is targeted for late 2026.
Fifty units staged and crash testing already underway is not a prototype story anymore. This is a production ramp story and it's moving fast. The Semi is on the same Nevada campus pulling its own production numbers. Two completely different vehicle categories, both heading toward mass market at the same time. That's a different Tesla than the one that spent years missing its own deadlines. 🤖⚡
